The Art of Observation: Critical Skills for Health Care Professions was held Wednesday Night 3-25-15 at UMass Worcester, Graduate School of Nursing, hosted by Sigma Theta Tau Iota Phi Chapter-at-Large. Over 90 nursing students, faculty and iota phi members attended the program which was designed to improve visual literacy and diagnostic skills. Dr.'s Welu and Stefan have collaborated locally, nationally and internationally to promote the teaching of observation skills as part of a well-rounded education in the health care professions. Terri Reed is a UMass GSN Alumni ('97, '05) is the catalyst that brought this program to the sigma leadership. It was a stimulating and thoughtful event!
GSN Alumni Breakfast
A packed room of faculty, alumni, family and friends applauded the 68
members of the Graduate School of Nursing’s Class of 2014 at the
pre-commencement Alumni Breakfast on Friday, May 30. Two new awards were
presented this year, in addition to the annual slate of recognitions.
The Lynne Foster Davidson Scholarship was awarded to master’s student
Tanya Swiderski, RN. A special, one-time award was presented by students to GSN
faculty Dawn Carpenter, DNP, assistant professor of nursing, and Johnny
Isenberg, MS, RN, for establishing the new critical care sub-track.

Under sunny skies, 227 graduates of UMass Worcester marked a milestone
in their long educational journey on Sunday, June 1, as they marched
across the stage in front of faculty, family members and friends to
proudly accept their degrees. U.S. Rep. James P. McGovern, who received a
Chancellor’s Medal and delivered the Commencement address, used the
opportunity to call for more National Institutes of Health funding to
sustain the remarkable medical research advances that are saving lives

running a marathon. Yet, when she was asked to be part of the University
of Massachusetts system's team that honors the memory of 2013 Boston

Nurse Practitioner Council Awards
The 2013 UMass Memorial Medical Center Nurse Practitioner Council Awards held on November 21, 2013 at the Albert Sherman Center at UMass Medical School recognized three UMass Worcester Graduate Nursing Students. NP Leadership: Mary Sullivan, DNP, RN,ANP-BC; NP Exemplar: Dianne Carter, MS, APN-BC, and Vinetta McCann, DNP, RN, ANP-BC.
UMMMC Chief Nursing Officer, Diane Thompson was the invited speaker at
