Associate Chief for Laboratory and Molecular Medicine at the MGH Pathology Service; Medical Director, MGH Point of Care Testing; Chair, MGH Department of Pathology Quality and Safety Committee. Editor in Chief of the medical journal "Point of Care: The Journal of Near Patient Testing Technologies". Kent lives in Boston and is frequently found on the UMMS campus with his medical student son, Grant Lewandrowski, Class of  2020.

Dr. Carswell’s clinical work is divided between ambulatory endocrinology, inpatient consultation, clinical research, teaching and precepting. Jeremi lives in Sudbury, MA.

 


Irvin N. Heifetz, MD’79, R’82

After serving for 24 years, Irvin Heifetz has decided to step down from the presidency of the UMMS AA.    Formerly: Clinical Director, UMass ED; Assistant Prof. of IM and EM at UMass; Chair of EM at Newton-Wellesley; Assist. Prof. of EM at TUSM. Currently: Clinical Instructor at HMS (anatomy, "Intro to the Profession," clinical diagnosis, "The Healer's Art"), where he has received multiple teaching awards; ED staff at Cambridge Hospital; singer with the Back Bay Chorale: "Be my guest for some great music; see bbcboston.org."

He commanded a DMAT unit at the World Trade Center Ground Zero on 9/11. Greg lives in Wachusett.

Co-Director of the Lipid Disorders Clinic at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Heart & Vascular Center in Lebanon, NH and Chief Medical Officer at Esperion Therapeutics, a biotech company focused on developing lipid lowering agents. Mary lives in Bedford, NH.


 

 

 

Jennifer F. Murzycki, MD’04, PhD’08
Undergraduate: Brandeis University, BA, Physics
Residency and Postdoctoral Fellowship: U Rochester, Pediatrics

Surfactant research Pediatric hospitalist, Floating Hospital; Director of the Newborn Nursery, Lowell General Hospital, with expertise in narcotic abstinence syndrome. While in the UMMS MD/PhD program, she mentored students, recruited for the program, and worked to increase clinical hours during the PhD thesis years to facilitate transition back to the third year of medical school. Jennifer lives in Maynard, MA.

Program Director, GI Fellowship, UMMS; Co-Director, Center for Microbiome Research, UMMS; Capstone Project Mentor, UMMS; Clinical Research Advisory Committee. Teaching responsibilities include inpatient ward attending, ambulatory GI clinic, basic science lectures. He has received multiple teaching awards. He married a UMMS classmate, Elyssa Aronson MD’01.

 

 

*Andrea A. Pettinato, MD’98

Residency: Baylor College of Medicine, 2001
Fellowship: Adolescent Medicine, Children’s Hospital Boston, 2005

Currently sees patients at Boston Children’s Hospital and helps supervise residents and fellows at the Adolescent Medicine Outpatient Clinic in Boston. She specializes in eating disorder treatment and reproductive endocrine medicine. Resides in Weston, MA.

Practicing: Private Practice Pediatrics at Rocky Hill Pediatrics, Rocky Hill, CT. She enjoys working to make UMMS the best Med School it can be. She is passionate about making sure children of alumni are considered for application and boosting fundraising efforts and endowments. Jenny lives in West Hartford, CT.

Private group practice since 1985, now with Steward Medical Group. As Regional Medical Director of Brockton for Steward, Nico is involved in ACO and Quality programs for all insurers. Nico’s daughter Emily is a UMMS alumna. Nico lives in Milton, MA.

MBA/MPH, UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business and School of Public Health

VP MedExcel, staffing EDs and Hospitalists; Principal REV Health Care Consulting Group. Happily married to Patty and with 16yr old triplets Evan, Victoria and Ryan and blessed to have Irv Heifetz sing at his wedding. Craig lives in Highland Mills, NY.

Emergency medicine and palliative care physician with previous experience in strategy consulting and health policy. Dr. Wang is passionate about transforming the way Americans imagine, deliver and receive healthcare at their end of life. David lives in Palo Alto, CA.



 

 

 

*Paul K. Williamson, MD’79

Fellowship: Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Rheumatology

Dr. Williamson consults to facilitate the development of emerging technologies in the life sciences through the Harrington Discovery Institute, governing on the Board of Directors at the Medical University of South Carolina’s Foundation for Research Development and investing in start-up companies with Charleston Angel Partners, LLC .He began his career in private practice and served as Chief of Medicine at Union Hospital, North Shore Medical Center, in which capacity he was a member of the Partners HealthCare Chiefs' Council.  From 2001 - 2014, he worked at Johnson & Johnson on the introduction of TNF and IL inhibitors to market and the development of allogeneic stem cell therapies.
